on Sunday 20th November.
Less than two hours drive from Melbourne, and the closest lift serviced resort to the city, Mt Baw
Baw’s green season provides skiing and snowboarding opportunities for people of all skill levels.
Beginners can to hone their skills without the winter crowds and costs, and the diehard adrenalin
seekers can ‘shred the gnar’ on mountainboards without the need for snow.
mountain boarding experience launches on 20th November with a full day of activities, lessons
and demonstrations for all skill levels. Tank Hill lift will be operating from 11.00am to 4.00pm for
mountain boarders and the big air bag will be open for those wanting to practice aerial tricks. Free
‘learn to ride’ mountain board lessons are on offer throughout the day and a BBQ lunch will be
available from the Skiosk.
For those who missed the opportunity to learn to ski or snowboard this winter season, a specially
designed dry ski slope area has been set up on Hutt Run, which will operate every Saturday and
Sunday across the green season. Private lessons are available with experienced instructors and
freestyle jam sessions are the perfect time to practice and progress new tricks.
Mt Baw Baw General Manager, John Fascio, said the green season provides huge opportunity for
boarders to continue doing what they love all year round, and for families to experience skiing and
snowboarding for the first time.
“Snowsport enthusiasts often travel internationally during our spring and summer seasons in order to
get some slope action, but now the Mt Baw Baw mountain boarding experience will give them an
opportunity to board on home soil,” Mr Fascio said.
“The green season is three times longer than the winter season, so it really opens up these sports as
year round activities. The new dry ski slope is perfect for beginners, giving them a chance to learn and
perfect their skills before hitting the snow during winter.”
“We are really excited about the season opening and can’t wait to see everyone on the mountain
soon,” he said.
As well as boarding and skiing opportunities, Mt Baw Baw also offers thrilling mountain biking trails
and shuttles, which will now take riders to the summit, tripling the amount of trail previously
accessible at Baw Baw. Blue Dirt will be operating Shuttles on selected weekends from 10 December.
