Battle at Baw Baw

Top riders to battle it out at Baw Baw

One of the most anticipated snow sports competitions on the Australian winter calendar at Melbourne’s closest terrain park, Battle @ Baw Baw is set to return on Saturday 8th August at Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort with Australia’s top rail riders and international competitors taking part.

Now in its ninth year and attracting the best riders in the country, the Battle @ Baw Baw is best known for its staircase feature set up on the mountain’s Tank Hill, where competitors launch their best tricks on the rail and show off their talents. Amateur, kids and professional boarders and skiers can battle it out at this renowned rail jam event to take out the title and take home the prize money.  The pro competition will take place during twilight hours.

One of Australia’s top rail riders, 22 year old Jye Kearney from Jindabyne, will have his eye on the $5,000 prize pool, having recently won his fourth Burton Cattleman’s Rail Jam.

International competitors including Finnish native and Whistler resident Tommi Ollikainen and Canadian Devan Peeters will also take to the rail and put on an action-packed show for spectators.

Mount Baw Baw Alpine Resort Manager Alex Flint is looking forward to seeing this year’s talent.

“Every year we see extraordinary talent, both homegrown and international, take part in the Battle @ Baw Baw and we can’t wait to see all the action form the pros and amateurs again this year.  Those that haven’t competed before are also encouraged to give it a go – it’s an intimidation free environment, and at the end of the day, it’s all just a bit of fun!” said Alex.

“We’ll have lots of entertainment for competitors and spectators to celebrate and unwind on Saturday night, including live music and DJs at the Alpine Hotel,” he continued.
