Position Overview

 

INFRASTRUCTURE & MAINTENANCE

 

MAINTENANCE

 

  • Electrician
  • Plumber 

 

You will be rostered for after-hours call outs. You will be responsible for ensuring that repairs to Resort Assets are undertaken / or referred to a relevant tradesmen. You will work to an approved order system.  You will also be responsible for opening and closing lodges and other styles of accommodation.. You will be part of the Guest Services Team.

 

  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence
  • Current Plumbing/Electrician qualifications
  • Understanding of Alpine Environment on Asset Maintenance an asset
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills

 

Note: There will be a requirement that either the Electrician or Plumber or in rotation act as the Night Duty Manager

 

ROAD CREW

You will be required to operate heavy equipment, manage cars in poor weather conditions, ensure that vehicles are parked properly and that guests comply with Resort regulations and requirements, clearing and maintaining Resort road, inform guests when snow chains are required and maintaining the large yellow safety signs. This will involve snow removal from roads and management of large numbers of cars in slippery road conditions. These positions require good customer service providing Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort information to visitors, interacting with customers to reduce various risks and being a good team mentor. Other duties as required by senior staff.

  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence
  • Willing to work long hours in inclement weather
  • Mandatory - Construction Industry Red Card
  • Alpine driving experience preferred
  • Great customer service
  • Experience in managing parking and other municipal type activities
  • Part of the Resort's Waste & Recycling Management Team

FOOD & BEVERAGE

All applicants will have 'Up selling' capacity, excellent customer service skills with previous experience preferred.

 

Chefs (Head Chef, Sous Chef)
You will be responsible for running the kitchen in Village Central. Duties include menu planning, stock, budget and hygiene control. You will also be responsible for your team and will report to the Food & Beverage Operations. Catering qualifications and experience of providing cuisine to high standards are mandatory. You need to be a team player willing to adopt a hands-on approach to the running of the kitchen.

 

Cooks
You will be reporting to the Head Chef and assisting with food preparations and all other duties associated with providing quality meals. Catering qualifications and/or experience are essential. You must be a team player and be able to work with a minimum of supervision.

 

Kitchen hands
You will be responsible for washing up, assisting with food preparation and other duties to ensure the smooth running of the kitchen. Current Safe Food Handling qualification required.

 

Food & Beverage Supervisors
You will be responsible for all aspects of running a bar, including cash and stock control, staff management and bar service. Ensure the bar is kept clean and that supplies are always replenished. Bar tending experience essential. Current RSA Certificate is mandatory.

 

Wait staff
You will be working Front of House, taking customer orders, working with the Back of House staff (Chefs, Kitchen Hands etc) to ensure that the order is completed and correct when delivered. You will correctly and honestly ensure that customer payment is receipted and that stock is replaced when needed. Experience preferred.

 

Bar staff
You will be responsible for serving drinks and food, keeping the bar clean, ensuring Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA). You must have an outgoing personality and cash handling skills are essential. A current RSA Certificate is mandatory.  This role may extend to further duties

 

 

 

VISITOR EXPERIENCE

 

GUEST SERVICES OFFICER

This busy position will require you to assist guests both over the telephone and face to face on a daily basis while maintaining a high level of customer service. Preferably, you will have a background in reception/administration in the Tourism/Accommodation Industry and be comfortable dealing with guests and telephone enquiries. You will be on roster for after-hours call outs.  As an option to add further variety to the Guest Services position is Oversnow Transportation where you would drive a skidoo/quad bike to deliver guests luggage to their accommodation. In-house skidoo and quad bike training will be provided.

  • Excellent computer skills – Word, Excel, Outlook (RTP & RMS would be an advantage)
  • Time Management skills with the ability to prioritize

HOUSEKEEPING

This position requires the physical ability to be able to vacuum, clean, tidy and audit guest accommodation premises, Administration areas and public amenities. You will practice Infection Control methods to safeguard the health of yourself and others. You will be able to work to demanding timetables and work in a team environment.

ARRIVAL GUIDES

This position requires you to be the first point of call at Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort. You will also be required to identify any visitor’s cars that have not paid for Resort Entry using a Vehicle Recognition System and manage the sale of Resort Entry passes using an iPad in the carparks and remote office facility.  You may be required to manage cars in poor weather conditions, ensure that vehicles are parked properly and that guests comply with Resort regulations and requirements and inform guests when snow chains are required. These positions require good customer service providing Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort information to visitors, interacting with customers to reduce various risks and being a good team mentor. Other duties as required by senior staff.

EVENTS & ACTIVITY OFFICER

On weekends you would help out with events and childrens activities.  Helping to set up and pack up.  Entertain the children with the running of activities to dressing up as Frosti, the Mt Baw Baw Mascot frog.

VIDEOGRAPHER/PHOTOGRAPHER

 

You will be responsible for the capturing weekend events and activities, which will be shared, used and compiled as content for our digital and print marketing campaigns. 

 

 

LIFT AND SNOWFIELDS OPERATIONS

 

CREW LEADER LIFT OPERATIONS

Supervision of lift operators to a roster, managing positive visitor experience performance and attendance/punctuality.

 

LIFT OPERATORS

You will be acting as a Lift Operator, ensuring that the Lifts are operated properly and that customers are safe using the lifts. You will have a helpful nature to ensure positive visitor experiences.  At times, you maybe required to work in Terrain Park.

  • Willing to work long hours in inclement weather
  • Physically fit
  • Willing to learn Lift Operations (must pass the in-house training)
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team
  • Understanding of OH&S matters

 

GROOMER DRIVER

You will groom part time (2-3 days per week, with an opportunity to work in other departments, dependent on skills, the other 2-3 days per week) with a strong client focus and innovative snow management, surface preparation, Terrain Park operations and machinery operation skills. You will be driving heavy equipment, ensuring that the snow condition is maximised to retain the depth of snow required in the snowfields and to ensure that guests are able to ski/board to their maximum potential. You will work within a team environment and have a proactive and hands on approach as they respond to the needs of Resort Management, Manager – Lift Operations, operational staff and the Resort community. You must ensure innovative and safe business practices and viable associated programs.

  • Current Victorian Drivers Licence
  • Mandatory - Construction Industry Red Card
  • Experience in use of heavy machinery
  • Willingness to learn Snow Grooming as a profession
  • Night shift

 

SNOWMAKER

You will be responding to a semi-automated alarm system which alerts you to when snowmaking is possible (mostly at night). You will ensure that the snowmaking machines are enabled to operate and for the safe operation of all terrain equipment.  You will be working in extreme conditions.

  • Computer skills
  • Willingness to work split shifts at night and in inclement weather

SNOWSPORTS INSTRUCTORS

 

SKI AND/OR BOARDING INSTRUCTORS

You will be instructing people in skiing and boarding disciplines (beginner to advanced). You will be required to undertake other Resort duties to ensure that you have enough working hours – particularly in guest activities. You will be required to maintain and improve your own skills.

  • Formal skills in Recreation Education experience in ‘High Skilled’ Snowsports (Alpine Downhill, Cross Country, Snowboard, Freestyle)
    • Must have Level 1 or higher in CSIA, CASI, APSI, BASI, NZSIA and/or PSIA
    • Must be physically fit
    • Excellent Customer Service skills

 

 

SKI PATROL

 

TEAM LEADER & SKI PATROLLERS

You will be responsible for ongoing Risk Management of the ski area and toboggan slopes. Ensuring that the runs are safe and that our customers engage in responsible behaviour when involved in snow activities (toboggan, cross country and downhill trails). You will be the first line call for injured guests and you are required to stabilise and maintain any injuries for extended periods of time or until professional assistance arrives. You will be able to work effectively with a team of both paid and volunteer Ski Patrollers and assist Resort Management with risk assessment where required..

  • Excellent Customer Service skills
  • Successful completion of ASPA Advanced Emergency Care qualifications in First Aid (or equivalent)
  • Good health and physical fitness are also necessary
  • Demonstration or proof of on snow skills and patrol experience in addition to passing a pre-season internal skills based assessment process
  • Member of ASPA
  • Capacity to be a 'Team Player'
  • Some on call and after hours work will be required

You will be responsible for ongoing Risk Management of the toboggan slopes and snow play areas. You will be ensuring that the runs are safe and that our customers engage in responsible behaviour when involved in snow activities.  You will have a Level 2 First Aid Certificate and experience in crowd control management in regards to running recreational activities with many participants.
