    Snow Sports School


    The Mt Baw Baw Snow Sports Team is there to help you learn and improve! To make the most of your snow holiday, it’s a good idea to take a lesson (Beginners, Intermediate or Advanced Programs).

    There’s something for every level and liking – whether you are a skier, a rider, child, teen or an adult, we have highly qualified instructors from all over the globe who will ensure you have a safe and fun learning experience to suit your skills, ability and goals. Mt. Baw Baw offers group lessons- that cater to various ways of learning and improving your skills or take a private lesson- for those who prefer the one on one approach.




    Level 1 (beginners)

    Designed for those who have never skied or snowboarded before.

    Focus: basic balancing skills, stopping, basic turning, safe lift usage and mountain safety.

    Level 2 (Lower intermediate)

    Have skied/ snowboarded before. Can use the lifts safely.

    Skiers: Can snow plough with control on a green. Starting to turn.

    Snowboarders: Can control rate of descent and direction via sideslipping. Starting to turn.

    Level 3 (upper intermediate)

    Skiers: Can ski most runs in control. Starting to parallel turn.

    Snowboarders: Must have confident skills in turning both heel and toe side on all green runs.

    Level 4 (advanced)

    Skiers/ snowboarders can confidently ride the whole mountain (with control). Learn how to ski and snowboard on various terrain, build on some tricks in the park, learn how to carve, or simply fine tune your skills to the highest level.

    Still unsure which level you are? Ask our Snow Sports staff to advise you about what level you might be.

    Mt Baw Baw recommends helmets, and they are compulsory for children under 16years. Helmets are available free of charge (deposit required).

    Private Lessons

    If you want to learn or improve quickly then a Private Lesson is the way to go. These lessons are great because you have the instructor all to yourself allowing them to tailor the lesson to your desired goals and specific areas of interest. Running daily with morning & afternoon sessions

    Adult Group Lessons

    Adult Group Lessons at our Snow Sports Centre cater for all abilities of both skiers and boarders. These lessons are a cost effective, social and fun way to learn or improve on your skills.

    Kids Club

    Mt Baw Baw’s Snow Sports team offer fun and rewarding camps for your children! These lessons are a great starting point for your child’s first skiing experience or a platform to progress as a seasoned professional! Based on the beginner slopes kids will enjoy a day of ski or board tuition, interspersed with games and snow play (or indoor games in the Kid’s Club if the weather is bad) and surprise visits from Frosti the Frog!

    Cross Country Lessons

    Cross country skiing is a great way to explore Mt Baw Baw, with over 10km’s of ski trails winding around the Resort there is a trail to suit all abilities from beginner to advanced. Over summer we have been busy widening our trails to allow for better grooming and access, not to mention an enhanced skiing experience. Never tried cross country skiing before? No problem, head to our Snow Sports Centre and arrange for a lesson from our knowledgeable, qualified instructors.

    Disability Snowsports- Mt Baw Baw Adaptive Program

    Mt Baw Baw has a team of instructors qualified to teach adaptive skiing to people with disabilities. We are in the process of developing the adaptive ski program to enable individuals with physical, sensory and learning difficulties to learn to ski and have fun in the snow!     Advanced Techniques & Freestyle Lessons

    If you want to tune up your skills, perfect your technique and learn to harness your new found speed then an Advanced Techniques lesson is for you. Suitable for intermediate to advanced skiers. Group lessons from 2pm-4pm every Saturday excluding School Holidays.
    For those who want to work on jumps, boxes, rails, grabs and spins, book one of our Freestyle Lessons. Head into the Terrain Parks with our qualified freestyle specialists to learn or improve your skills. The Freestyle Lessons are all about progressing to the next level of snowboarding/ skiing park expertise with this technique-training lesson! Only for advanced riders. By the end of the day, you’ll be in the park showing off your basic airs, spins and box and rail riding techniques.

    Instructor Training

    Become a ski or Snowboard Instructor Improve your skills and technique, learn to teach and gain experience shadowing professionals. You will receive personalised feedback and mentoring from qualified instructors preparing you for your Australian Professional Snow Sports Instructors (APSI) Level 1 and 2 exams. Must be 16 years or older.
