Tobogganing and Snow Play
Experience the thrill of tobogganing on Frosti Frog Toboggan Park and Magic Carpet! Mt Baw Baw offers a snow guarantee on Frosti Frog Toboggan Park – open every day from Kings Birthday Weekend. Tobogganing is only permitted in the designated park area of Frosti Frog Toboggan Park or Top Toboggan Park (only when open).
How much is it?
- $20pp for a toboggan park access pass (using your own toboggan).
- $40 for toboggan hire and pass (limited availability online)
- Toboggans can be hired from private businesses on-mountain or on the way, or you can bring your own. However passes can only be purchased from the Resort and are required for insurance reasons. Tobogganing is only permitted on the park at Mt Baw Baw.
Session times may apply to our toboggan park during peak times to manage the experience. Ensure you book a session with adequate time to arrive on mountain.
Typical session times during weekends and holidays:
- 9:15 AM
- 11:00 AM
- 12:45 PM
- 2:30 PM
Off‑peak/midweek: Sessions are offered as full day or half day depending on the season.
Admission to the Toboggan Park is only permitted with a valid wristband. A lift operator at the base of the Magic Carpet will check wristbands before each session.
Peak periods and session times
- Demand: Tobogganing is a popular activity and sessions sell out quickly. Weekends and school holidays are the busiest times.
- Booking: We strongly advise pre‑purchasing passes online before travelling to Mt Baw Baw.
- Allow extra time: Parking and wait times for activities, venues and lessons may be longer during peak periods.
Magic Carpet operation and park access
- Operation: Mt Baw Baw aims to keep the Magic Carpet running throughout the season, but weather, mechanical issues or safety requirements may interrupt service.
- If the Magic Carpet is not operating: The Toboggan Park remains open, but guests must walk up the slope.
Snow coverage and guarantees
- Natural snow: Cannot be guaranteed.
- Snowmaking: Mt Baw Baw operates a Snow Factory to maintain coverage in the Toboggan Park throughout the season.
Equipment, safety and permitted use
- Toboggans: Only moulded sit‑in plastic toboggans are permitted. Inflatable objects, snow bikes and non‑standard toboggans are prohibited.
- Hire options: You can hire toboggans on the mountain, bring your own, or rent en route.
- Location restriction: Tobogganing is only permitted in the dedicated Toboggan Park; it is not allowed elsewhere in the village.
- Children: Children aged 3 years and under do not require a pass but must be supervised by an adult who holds a valid pass.
Terms and conditions summary
- Late arrival: You may join a session late for the remaining allocated time; extra time will not be added.
- Missed sessions: If you miss your session entirely, staff will attempt to rebook you into another slot but this is not guaranteed.
- Refunds: No refunds are available for missed sessions.
- What passes cover: Toboggan Park passes provide access and help cover snowmaking, staffing, and ski patrol.
- Conduct: Failure to follow staff instructions or using toboggans outside designated areas may result in refusal of service.
- Pass requirement: You cannot use the Toboggan Park without a valid session pass.
